Message from the Athletic Director
Within the Jefferson County School District our mission is to continue to cultivate the athletic department, while also touching many other corners of the school. Our coaches are educators first and understand the importance of educating our student-athletes on and off the playing fields.
There are many things with Jefferson County High School Athletics that we are passionate about: Watching a student athlete achieve something he/she didn’t think was possible; Seeing student athletes take great pride in being part of a team at Jefferson County High School. This opportunity is not available for all students at many bigger schools; Seeing the teams grow and improve- not only their skill set but learn how to handle different situations, improve their communication skills, and exhibit sportsmanship. As a family-oriented community, seeing students from a similar background bond and learn each other is an invaluable life experience.
In the past, we’ve also had significant success on the scoreboard, winning many district/state individual and team championships and watching many of our student-athletes play collegiately. Success on the field is not the only measure of success for our student athletes. The mission of this athletic department is to give every student-athlete a valuable experience in the classroom and on the field and to celebrate those experiences and achievements, no matter the outcome.
I personally invite you to come by and check out the teaching in the gym/field at a practice after school or the environment at a Friday night sporting event. I am confident you will see the “family” in everything we do.
